The Central America Travel Market (CATM)**, the leading travel trade fair in Central America and the Dominican Republic, celebrated its thirteenth event with resounding success. Taking place from 16 to 18 April 2024, El Salvador became the meeting point for more than 400 international travel industry players, including tour operators, wholesalers and media from Europe and the Americas.
The Minister of Tourism of El Salvador, Morena Valdez, expressed her satisfaction for hosting this milestone event, which provides a platform to showcase the high-quality tourism in the region. “The CATM is essential to highlight Central America and the Dominican Republic as a tourism multi-destination,” Valdez said during the inauguration.
The fair was a hive of activity with more than 1600 business appointments taking place, allowing attendees to explore the rich and varied tourism offerings of Belize, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, and the Dominican Republic. This meeting reflects the growing interest in the region, which according to the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), will attract more than 24 million visitors in 2024, consolidating its position as one of the world’s favourite destinations.
