In the midst of the expansion of sustainable tourism in the Caribbean, Pedernales stands out as an eco-friendly destination that promises a unique experience for environmentally conscious travellers.
Pedernales has recently been recognised for its commitment to sustainable tourism, attracting the attention of important industry players and government agencies. The province has been selected as part of a comprehensive development project, funded by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and implemented in collaboration with the Instituto de Desarrollo Integral (IDDI) and the international NGO CESAL.
The main objective of this project is to strengthen the sustainable tourism chain in Pedernales, promoting local economic development in harmony with environmental conservation and the preservation of local culture. Through community-based tourism initiatives and the integration of sustainable practices in the tourism industry, Pedernales seeks to become a role model in the region.
With the opening of new tourism infrastructures and the continued support of local authorities and private sector actors, Pedernales is ready to welcome travellers committed to sustainable tourism.
