El Salvador, known as the surfing capital of the world, has hosted two outstanding international surfing competitions. El Sunzal beach hosted the 2024 ISA World Longboard Championship from April 18-25. This event followed the successful 2023 championship, which was also held in this Central American country and featured 118 surfers from 33 nations. In the 2024 edition, the Hawaii team took the title, while France reached third place, followed by England in seventh place. Spain and Italy ranked 14th and 30th, respectively.
Surf City El Salvador offers exceptional conditions for longboarding, and the continued support of the Salvadoran government is helping to position the sport as a candidate for inclusion in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
